Arby’s Reuben is delicious, but with 680 calories per sandwich it’s definitely a menu item most people trying to lose weight should avoid.
680 calories is a lot.
To put it in perspective, the chain’s Half-Pound Roast Beef Sandwich has 610 calories and 38 grams of carbohydrates. A much better option if you’re looking for something that’s filling, but not as calorie and fat dense as the former option.
But hey, on the other hand, the Reuben looks like a 1000 calorie sandwich, at least. So if you look at it that way, then you’ll probably be OK with its current nutritional value.
The Reuben features sliced corned beef, melted Swiss cheese, and tangy Sauerkraut served on a marbled rye bread. And it also comes with thousand island dressing drizzled on top.
I’ve heard people say Arby’s Reuben is disgusting, and I’ve also read there are other sandwich places that make a better Reuben. But to be honest with you, Arby’s has the best Reuben we’ve tried to date.
Even though this is not a review, it’s worth nothing that the chain’s Reuben is superb. The Rye Bread is soft and tastes good, the corned beef is thick and thus satisfying, and the thousand island dressing pairs well with the other ingredients and gives it bursts of sweet tanginess.
If you were to ask us, we’d tell you it’s worth the extra calories, and the extra grams of fat and carbs too. Unless you have a medical condition or are overweight. In that case, ditch the sandwich and just get a salad.
