The Chicken & Waffles Sandwich is KFC’s latest crazy concoction. It’s an over the top menu item that packs lots of calories, carbs, and fat, that actually tastes great. The sandwich’s carbohydrate and caloric content is high, but it also has a decent amount of protein, however, probably not enough to make the extra calories worth it.
KFC’s Chicken and Waffles Sandwich has a whopping 1020 calories and 102 grams of carbs. Not to mention that it also has 53 grams of fat. And we haven’t even added the hot honey syrup yet. So this is not something you want to eat on a regular everyday basis, especially if you’re trying to lose or at least maintain a healthy weight.
Let’s take a look at the sandwich’s list of ingredients. The chain’s new sandwich comes with an extra crispy fried chicken filet smothered with Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup and sandwiched between two huge waffles. The syrup is optional. And although the sandwich is tasty enough without it, Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup just makes the waffle sandwich that much tastier.
Just by looking at this thing’s ingredients, you can easily determine it’s not the healthiest choice at KFC. And there’s really nothing you can do to make it healthier, except for ordering the waffle and chicken concoction without syrup, and not even that will be enough to reduce its calorie count significantly.
A chicken and waffles sandwich drizzled with Mrs. Butterworth’s Syrup has 1100 calories, 477 calories from fat, 53 grams of fat, 122 grams of carbs, 40 grams of sugar, 1510 milligrams of sodium, and 33 grams of protein.
The nutritional difference between a sandwich with syrup and a sandwich without syrup isn’t much, but it’s significant enough to go with the first option.
